Launch day & process
TBD. Our goal is to make it as automatic as possible. Ideally, we'll give you a button in your dashboard to automatically migrate over to the new dashboard, new codebase, and new functionality.
In some cases, there may be additional work required to start using new features. We're going to do everything we can to make this as seamless as possible and help as much as possible.
For more info, please see our post on Memberstack 2.0.

Home stretch! Estimating 4-12 weeks.

Duncan Hamra: I just finished a super robust memberstack 1 build, but I'm ready to port it over to 2.0! Lots of features I'm missing and wish I had. How can I get onto beta? I have an active business as use-case.

Duncan Hamra: we're 2 days into week 7 of 12... still on target for launch within next 5 and a half weeks?
Thomas Seiger
Duncan Hamra: any news on the release date?
Duncan Hamra
Thomas Seiger: I'm excited to share that 2.0 is officially live 🎉

Want to just add outside of our email chain how important it is for our company launch that we are able to access existing customer payment info so they don't have to re-enter their details. Would like to ensure that being able to access a payment id essentially for 1 off up sale makes it into launch. It is currently critical for us to have this type of functionality and it seems you guys might be working on that? Seems like a win win.

Hey Guys, looking forward to this :)
Do you have an ROUGH ETA on release? In a year? Two years? Three weeks?
Duncan Hamra
Robby Branham: The rest of the wonderful team at Memberstack and I like to joke that everything takes "just 2-weeks!" This one's going to take quite a few rounds of
just 2-weeks
. At this point, I would say it's way less than a year (😅🙏), but more than enough time for me to make any promises 🔮I really want to give you an estimate... but instead, I'll ask why you want to know and see if I can address that concern instead. Are you waiting for a feature or trying to find out if you can help a client?

Duncan Hamra: We are just an excited :) . Our company moves forward as you guys move forward.
There has been many updates along the way that have drastically improved our ability to provide a great experience for our customers (metadata updates, integrations with our resources, circle, zapier etc).
Its tough to say what exactly we are looking for, simply because we don't know what is possible. So many updates have come along and we utilized them without knowing we needed them.
Here are a few of the things we are hoping for...
First here is our website:
- the Netflix of learning 3D animation
- around 800 paying members (including the ones still active from our past website and paypal)
- Modify users membership using JavaScript
- cancelations
- changing from one membership to the other
- currently this is all manual in order to customize the cancelation experience, which has a lot of room for error :/
- Access members data via JavaScript across members - useful for displaying progress/leadership boards. Possibly a more robust database for members, rather than meta data?
- The pesky "Passwords can not be submitted" bug. This appears to come up once once or twice a month. Week currently have a template that we send them to clear cookies that fixes it though, so we have a solution currently.
- The pesky can not reset password bug. This is one that we still can not find a work around for. Maybe this is tied to passwords can not be submitted and we haven't found a good protocol for this? We tried suggestions from the forum but we often find our selves having to clear out a member entirely and have them re-register, which is a huge pain unfortunately but we are managing :)
- PayPal integration would be amazing :) . We have a workaround currently, but without being able to modify memberships via JavaScript, its not a great user experience and its very manual.
Our situation is a bit different I am sure from most, we have a ton of custom javascript in our website. I have experience coding, but not a specialized developer. Any cowboy style front end java integrated is encouraged :)
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk 😂

Duncan Hamra: We've got requests coming in for member related feature improvements from our clients and without even an approximate timeline we don't know whether to push client requests out or build them ourselves.
Duncan Hamra
Tim: Exactly! This is the kind of situation we want to get better about. Would you mind posting those client requests here for me? I'll reply ASAP.
Duncan Hamra
Robby Branham: Love it!! And I so appreciate the excitement 😁 We're excited too!
Thank you for breaking this down for us. I'm going to turn each of those into individual problem statements/feature requests. If I tag you. Would you mind commenting with any details I may have missed?
Ted talk: 10/10 🤣

Need to make sure that migrating from Memberstack 1.0 to 2.0 needs to be handled carefully for current customers. I'm super excited to see the new features but equally concerned that when we move to the new platform there will be duplicated payments, charges, invoices, plans and other issues with those customers that get moved.
