Manually approve new members
planned
Duncan Hamra
1) The problem → Hi! I need new users to be verified before they can access the hidden content on my page. I can't find an easy way to do this. They sign up, then they need to be verified by an admin before they can log in and get access to the content.
2) Why is this important → Anyone can find the signup form on my website, but I need to confirm something (their identity, the answer to onboarding questions, etc.) before they get access.
3) What's your plan B → https://help.memberstack.com/en/articles/3850065-approve-new-members
4) Possible solutions we could build for you → Create a new membership plan status of "pending" or "waiting." Ideally, I'd get an email or notification that a new person is pending approval and have a simple UI where I can view pertinent information and click "Approve" or "Deny." Each option should send a message letting the person know their new status + an explanation.

Private Access Codes
Matthew Palmer
1) The problem → My business model needs an extra layer of security. I need them to be able to make an account, but I'd like my HR representative to provide a private access code they will use to activate their account & authorize access. In other words, I don't want anyone with an account to have access to my sensitive material. Only my authorized employees.
2) Why is this important → A simple email and password can be made by anyone. If my content is restrictive to a group of employees, I'd like an extra passcode saved with Memberstack that can give my organization extra security.
3) What's your plan B → Universal password protected page?
4) Possible solutions we could build for you → An extra layer of security. An optional security passcode that is only available and manually provided by the site administrator.

Expiring Sign Up Link
JS
1) The problem → I'd like to moderate who signs up to our website as a free member.
2) Why is this important → I wouldn't want people who shouldn't be signing up to sign up.
3) What's your plan B → Possibly remove the signup form, or use coupons/paid membership to restrict sign up
4) Possible solutions we could build for you → It'd be awesome to have the ability send an expiring sign up link so people can share the link to sign up.

Shawn Joshi Thanks for sharing the idea. I'm curious to hear more & understand why this feature might help you:
- How are you currently solving this? Curious what the biggest blockers are
- Why is this important for your business/project? In an ideal world, how would you want to use this feature?
Current Workaround
For now, I'm wondering if creating a private web-page with a custom sign-up form on it would do the trick?

More control over who can create an account
R
RH Creative Admin
1) The problem → I need to control who has an account to view gated content which is covered by the client's NDA. The client needs to review each applicant's credentials to make sure they are eligible to view the content before assigning them an account.
2) Why is this important → Applicants must be vetted before signing up to ensure sensitive information is protected.
3) What's your plan B → Currently, applicants send a request to create an account via email using a form on the site (not linked to Memberstack). The client reviews the request, and if it is approved I create an account for them via a hidden form and send the login details back to the applicant via email. This is not the most secure solution, and I would like to automate my side of the process.
4) Possible solutions we could build for you → I would like to send the applicant a temporary code (similar to an OTP used to authorise online banking payments) which can be used to 'unlock' the Memberstack sign up form on the site, allowing a member to create their own account. This would be more secure, more accurate and direct than my current solution to this problem.

Love it! Thank you for explaining the situation.
I'm going to merge this with another post I created before seeing yours. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Duncan Hamra: Thanks for picking this up Duncan! Looking forward to possibly seeing a solution some time in the future.
