The only issue I’ve run into so far with Memberstack is that free members aren’t charged the one-time setup fee when upgrading to a paid plan. I currently get users to create a free demo account that gives them limited access until they upgrade to a paid plan. However, I’d still like to charge the one-time setup fee when upgrading to paid.

One major reason right now is that I’m changing my pricing model. Memberful only gives me the option to charge a different rate for the first month, but if they change plans they’ll have to pay the one-time fee again.

The workaround I’ve been brainstorming to get users to join for a free demo is to use a form on my site (Collect email for app notifications) that’ll redirect them to the app, but not actually have them create a memberstack account so I can still charge them the one-time fee.

I would like to charge a one-time setup fee when they first join that won’t be charged if they upgrade to other plans.
