Use Memberstack on multiple sub-domains
planned
Duncan Hamra
1) The problem → I can only use Memberstack on one website / domain. I don't want members to have to log in every time they switch websites. A portion of my content lives on another website/subdomain/CMS.
2) Why is this important → My CMS isn't on my main marketing site (where people log in) and I really don't want to give up my CMS. It's core to my value prop.
3) What's your plan B → Leave half of my content "unlocked" or move all of my content into a single domain.
4) Possible solutions we could build for you → I love love it if a session carried over between domains. So, a member could log in on mywebsite.com and then access content as a logged in member on app.mywebsite.com. Both websites would have the same Memberstack script installed.

Thanks Duncan. My use case is that I use webflow as the frontend and have an application running on the subdomain which needs to be gated. Would prefer not requiring double logins. And would also prefer not to run the application in an iframe on webflow since that isn't very secure (someone could just copy/paste the application url for example). Am open to suggestions

This was blocked at the last minute, so is once again planned for the near future. Current estimation is mid-December.

Duncan Hamra: keep punting it and you will lose more customers. This is a pretty basic need

Bryan Cooley: Thanks for the input. Doing our very best to prioritize and solve problems as they arise 👍
While we're doing that, I'm happy to suggest alternative solutions. What problem would this feature solve for you? And what's your current solution?

Duncan Hamra: as previously described, we separate our marketing website (webflow) with our SAAS app (running on a subdomain). How do you suggest to protect the subdomain content since you don't support this? If we were running a content site fine but not a web app. I still want to use memberstack but now looking at other providers since want to launch

Duncan Hamra: Wouldn't it be easier to add the target domain in the installation script?

Thanks to those who shared additional thoughts here. Feel free to keep them coming.
Memberstack 2.0 is very likely to allow a user to be logged across multiple sub-domains. Please note that it has to be a sub-domain, and cannot be a completely different domain.
Examples:
❌ memberstack.com and ebay.com

Any news if this is on the roadmap?

Keep signed in between domains
Josh Lopez
I am trying to keep my members signed in between my main domain and my subdomain. This is important because it will decrease user friction when using my websites. My plan b is to make my members login in twice.

Corey Haines: Did I sum this up well?

Duncan Hamra: Yes exactly!! I’m not sure if this is the same or different but just multiple sites in general would be awesome. E.g. one membership gets access to multiple sites. That’d make bundling really easy.
